Hey there!
I'm April, the educator and creator behind The Adventurous Classroom.

I've taught secondary English, psychology, and social-emotional learning since 2013, working in California, Florida, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Japan. I've taught in public and charter schools, with a special education co-teacher and a para-educator. I've also taught general education, honors, and International Baccalaureate level classes, as well as educational summer camps.

I started creating my own educational resources when I noticed a lack of engaging materials that provided current and reliable information for my students. I am passionate about making difficult topics accessible and relatable to teens and pre-teens, in both online and in-person teaching environments. I pride myself in creating resources that will inspire and motivate students to fall in love with all things English and psychology related.

When I'm not teaching or creating resources for teachers, I can be found...

  • renovating my 1900s house

  • traveling with my bestie, aka favorite human, aka hubs

  • whipping up something tasty and plant-based in the kitchen

I know what it's like to be a new teacher thrown into teaching dense content without enough support or current resources to lean on, so I've created this free guide for getting started with teaching psychology to ease the transition.
